Balneário Camboriú has the most expensive square metre in Brazil and a line of seafront skyscrapers found nowhere else in the country.
The downside is well known:
In summer the city fills up, traffic on Avenida Atlântica grinds to a halt, and the shadow of the tall buildings reaches the beach by late afternoon. Anyone buying to live here all year should visit in January and in June before deciding.
