The beach and the lifestyle The seafront avenue — Avenida Tomás Cabreira — is lined with restaurants, terraces, hotels, the casino and the nightlife, all above the sand. To the east, the Santa Catarina Fortress opens onto Portimão marina and the fishing village of Ferragudo across the river.
